In a fun, traffic free environment, the program teaches primary school aged children from 5 to 12, how to ride properly, focuses on road safety, promotes physical activity and also gives children and families the confidence and encouragement to get out riding!
Run by fully accredited coaches including Australian Cycling Academy ARA Pro Racing Sunshine Coast riders this program is the perfect way to boost their confidence in a traffic free environment.
ARA Sunshine Coast Pro Racing team rider Anya Louw has been running Wheely Fun Camps on the Sunshine Coast alongside other riders and enjoys helping children find a passion for cycling at a young age like she did.
“I started cycling through my local club when I was around 9 years old, I would hire out a bike for $50 and head down on a Saturday, it was really similar to Wheely Fun and that’s how my cycling journey started,” she said.
“I just love to see the skills and knowledge that I have learnt over the years passed down onto the kids. It’s pretty special to be able to watch them learn some new skills, gain some confidence and have a lot of fun while doing it,
With so many kids riding to school I guess the most important takeaway is how to stay safe
on the road with the right skills and techniques.”
With a busy racing and University schedule Anya still finds the time to commit to coaching the Wheely Fun Camps throughout the year.
Wheely Fun is proudly designed, presented and facilitated by AusCycling and Australian Cycling Academy.
